Store Locator Privacy Notice
Last updated: July 2026
This notice explains how the Red Cactus Brand™ store locator (the “Locator”) handles information. It applies only to the Locator on this site. The Red Cactus Brand website and its own privacy policy also apply when you visit the main site.
The short version
The Locator is a simple tool for finding nearby retailers that runs in your browser. It does not:
- create accounts or ask you to sign in;
- set advertising or tracking cookies;
- run analytics or track you across other websites;
- store your searches or your location on our servers — there is no server that keeps your data.
To draw a map and find stores near you, your browser contacts a few third-party services. As with any internet request, those services can see your device’s IP address, plus the specific information described below.
1. Finding your location (“Near me”)
- If you tap Near me and allow location access, your device’s precise location is used only inside your browser to measure the distance to nearby stores. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- If precise location isn’t available after you tap Near me (for example it’s turned off, blocked, or your device can’t determine it), we look up an approximate, city-level location from your IP address using a third-party service (ipapi.co, with ipwho.is as a backup). Only your IP address is sent, only to estimate your general area, and results found this way are labeled “approximate.”
- If you never tap Near me, none of the above happens.
2. Searching by ZIP code, city, or address
When you type a location and search, that text and your IP address are sent to Nominatim (an OpenStreetMap service) to convert it into map coordinates so we can find the nearest stores.
3. The map
Map imagery is provided by OpenFreeMap (using OpenStreetMap data). Displaying the map causes your browser to request map tiles from OpenFreeMap, which can see your IP address.
4. Directions
Selecting Directions for a store opens Google Maps in a new tab. From that point your use is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies
The Locator itself does not set cookies. The third-party services listed below operate under their own privacy policies.
Third-party services
- OpenFreeMap — map tiles
- OpenStreetMap Foundation — map data and Nominatim search
- ipapi.co — approximate location from IP (Near me fallback)
- ipwho.is — approximate location from IP (backup)
- Google Maps — opened when you select Directions
Children’s privacy
The Locator is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
